Located in San Clemente, California. I have been working in computer graphics since 1994 – specializing in, but not limited to, print layout. Currently I am working full time as the Art Director for Irvine Company Apartment Communities. I have experience directing photo shoots, on-set advising during commercial shoots, printer press-checks, designing corporate identity packages, brand development, image manipulation and color correction. I have worked creatively on all types of projects, including:

John Mairs

I have lived in California my entire life and I'm currently in San Clemente where my wife and I are busy raising 2 great kids. I attended Cal Poly Pomona as I earned my BA in Landscape Architecture. I recently completed my MA in Communication Arts – Public Relations and Advertising. Art classes, art history, abundant projects, drawing concepts, and designs in most every media provide me with the foundation I utilize in my current graphic design work. I have worked directly with publishers, print shops, and creative directors from all over the United States.

The samples below include Brochures, Postcards, Doorhangers, Posters, and Logos. The 1221 Ocean Avenue brochure incorporates a 5th color (Metallic Blue) and really exemplifies the Ultra-Luxury property located in Santa Monica, California. The Portola Place brochure really plays up the open space surrounding the community. The colors in the brochure and the postcard are very similar to what is used on the buildings at the property. The challenge with the Portola Place project was to relate to what our Residential (Home Sales) division created, but to be different enough to distinguish the Apartment Homes from what was already in the marketplace.

The images below include a handfull of the different magazines I've worked on. Also included are some advertisement samples. The ads for The Enclave are a series that we currently run in several different publications. I did another series for that property too, but this is the campaign that our VP of Marketing chose to use. As mentioned before, the marketing pieces for Portola Place are consistent with each other and successfully convey the beautiful landscape and open space of this community. The ad samples are included below, along with an example of the HTML E-Mail I created for them. The other HTML E-Mail samples are part of The Enclave's "Living Well" campaign.
